Method

  • 1. Lightly grease and line an 8 inch square cake tin.

  • 2.Place butter, sugar, chocolate and syrup in a saucepan and heat gently until mixture is blended and smooth. Remove from heat and leave to cool.

  • 3.Beat eggs and whisk into the cooled chocolate mixture.

  • 4.Sieve in the flour and cocoa powder and carefully fold into the mixture using a metal spoon or spatula.

  • 5.Add in the chopped nuts.

  • 6.Spoon the mixture into the cake tin. Bake in a preheated oven 180 C for 25 minutes or until the edge of the cake is begining to shrink from sides of tin.
  • The inside will still be quite gooey and soft to touch.

  • 7.Leave the cake in the tin to cool completely.

  • 8. Cut into squares and serve

    • Very very rich and chocolatey, but I love that, and it also stops you from eating the whole lot at once. Not really like brownies I have had before but I guess that is the dark chocolate. Would be lovely as a desert with scoop of vanilla ice cream.
