  • Cooking Time: 0hrs 25 mins

Ingredients

  • 100g Unsalted butter
  • 175g Caster sugar
  • 6 tbsp Dark muscavado sugar
  • 125g Dark chocolate
  • 1 tbsp Golden syrup
  • 2 Eggs
  • 100g Plain flour
  • 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp Baking powder

Method

1. Lightly grease and line an 8 inch square cake tin.

2.Place butter, sugar, chocolate and syrup in a saucepan and heat gently until mixture is blended and smooth. Remove from heat and leave to cool.

3.Beat eggs and whisk into the cooled chocolate mixture.

4.Sieve in the flour and cocoa powder and carefully fold into the mixture using a metal spoon or spatula.

5.Add in the chopped nuts.

6.Spoon the mixture into the cake tin. Bake in a preheated oven 180 C for 25 minutes or until the edge of the cake is begining to shrink from sides of tin.
The inside will still be quite gooey and soft to touch.

7.Leave the cake in the tin to cool completely.

8. Cut into squares and serve
