Method

  • 1. Melt in a pan margarine, sugar and
  • golden syrup.
  • 2. Add this to the flour seived into bowl
  • with the chocolate powder.
  • 3. When well mixed, add the egg, warmed milk
  • and the sod.bic. and pour into mixture-
  • which will be very thin.
  • 4. Put into well greased sandwich tins.
  • 5. Bake 30 minutes at 375 deg.F or Reg.5.
  • 6. Make the filling. Blend the chocolate or
  • cocoa powder with little boiling water
  • and then add to rest.
  • 7. Fill the cake.
  • 8. Make the icing and ice it.
  • Ingredients

    • 4 oz. Margarine
    • 4 oz. Sugar
    • 4 oz. Golden Syrup
    • 6 oz. Plain Flour
    • 2½ oz. Chocolate Powder
    • 1 Egg
    • ¼ pt. Milk
    • ½ tsp. Sod. Bic.
    • ----- Filling
    • 3 oz. Margarine
    • 6 oz. Icing Sugar
    • 1 tbsp. Chocolate or Cocoa Powder
    • few drops Vanilla Essence
    • ----- Icing
    • 6 oz. Icing Sugar
    • small nut Margarine
    • 1½ tbsp. Chocolate or Cocoa Powder
    • 3-4 tsp. Boiling Water
