Easy Chocolate Cake

Method

  • 1. Pre heat oven to 180C

  • 2. Grease 2 8 inch round cake tins

  • 3. Beat 3 eggs with caster sugar till thick and fluffy

  • 4. Add teaspoon of vanilla essence

  • 5. Sift the dry ingredients 3 times

  • 6. Put butter and milk in a saucepan and bring to the boil slowly

  • 7. Meanwhile spoon dry ingredients into eggs and sugar mixture.

  • 8. When milk bubbles up pour into cake mixture then pour into cake tins

  • 9. Bake in hot oven for 15 to 20 mins - check cake is cooked by putting knife into cake and it should come out clean.

  • 10. For the icing, mix together all the ingredients and spread between 2 cakes and over the top when the cake has cooled.

    • Tips

    • I decorate the cake with crumbled flake and bashed maltesers

    • 3 eggs
    • 250g (8oz) caster sugar
    • 175g (7oz) self raising flour
    • 1 tbsp cocoa
    • 1 tbsp drinking chocolate
    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • ½ cup milk
    • 2 oz butter
    • 1 tsp vanilla essence
    • FOR THE ICING
    • 8oz icing sugar
    • 2oz butter
    • 2 tbsp carnation condensed milk
    • 1 tbsp cocoa
    • 1 tbsp drinking chocolate

    This is an easy chocolate cake recipe that is really light and yummy. It is my mum's special - hot butter milk sponge and is really the best recipe for chocolate cake IMO
