    Ingredients

    • 175g Butter
    • 75g caster sugar
    • 1drop Vanilla essence
    • 200g flour (plain)
    • 50g cornflour
    • 1tbsp Light Muscovado sugar
    • 75g Plain Chocolate

    Method

    1. 1. pre heat the oven to 180c/350f/gas mark 4. grease 2 bakingsheets.

    2. 2. put the butter,caster sugar and vanilla essence in a mixing bowl and beat together until light and fluffy. sift in the flour and cornflour. gradually bring the mixture together with your finger tips (make sure you have clean hands)and knead lightly until a soft dough is formed. do not over knead.

    3. 3. on a slightly floured surface,shape the dough in to a log and cut in half length-ways. cut each half into 9 slices. roll each piece in to a log shape 6x2cm flatten each piece slightly then transfer to the baking sheets.

    4. 4. bake the biscuits for 10 minutes. remove from the oven and brush with the milk sprinkle with the muscovado sugar and return to the oven for 3-5 minutes more,or until pale golden and just firm to touch. put the biscuits on a wire rack to cool completely.

    5. 5. break up the chocolate into a bowl and melt over a pan of simmering water,taking care the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.

    6. 6. dip the end of each biscuit into the chocolate. leave a biscuit to set on a sheet of grease proof paper.

      Ingredients

      • 100g Butter (cold and cubed)
      • 160g Caster Sugar
      • 1 Medium egg
      • 225g Plain flour
      • 1tsp Baking powder
      • 1 Naval Orange (fine zest only)
      • 1 tbspn Orange juice
      • 100g Choc chips or favourite chocolate chopped

      Method

      1. 1. Mix flour, baking powder and sugar in a bowl.
      2. 2. Add butter and zest and rub in well until mixture looks like fine breadcrumbs.
      3. 3. Mix in egg, chocolate and orange juice and stir until mixture forms a dough.
      4. 4. Shape into 2 sausage shapes about 3cm diameter.
      5. 5. Wrap sausages well in cling film.
      6. 6. Refrigerate for about 5 hours or overnight.
      7. 7. Slice dough with a sharp knife (about 1cm thick slices) and arrange on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment taking care to leave room for spreading.
      8. 8. Bake in a moderate oven (175-180 degrees) for about 10 mins.
      9. 9. Remove and cool on a wire rack

          Does SR flour mean self-raising?

          I have not tried this recipe yet, but from just reading it, I can tell that it is going to turn out beautiful and yummy. Thanks for the recipe

        Ingredients

        • ¼ lb. Chocolate Pieces (Polka Dots)
        • ¼ cup Sugar
        • ¼ lb. Butter
        • 2 tbsp. Condensed Milk
        • 1 cup S.R. Flour (self raising)

        Method

        1. 1. Cream butter and sugar.
        2. 2. Add condensed milk and flour and lastly
        3. the chocolate pieces.
        4. 3. Place in teaspoons on cold tray and press
        5. with fork.
        6. 4. Bake in moderate oven for 10 minutes.
        7. Watch for burning!
