Got granddaughter Zoe and grandson John (Junior)over to day. Looking after them today over half term, only that it hasnt stopped raining today so we cant go out. So suddenly had a brainwave I thought lets cook. Looked up Mydish and sure enough those clever folk at Mydish had good recipe ideas to cook with the kids over half term. Zoe and John were unanimous in their decision to cook your Jam Tarts and boy were they a hit - thanks for brightening up our rainy day!

      Ingredients

      • 8oz Plain flour
      • 4oz Butter
      • Pinch Salt
      • 4-5tbs Cold water
      • Few tsps Seedless jam

      Method

      1. Preheat oven to Gas mark 6

      2. Sieve the flour & salt and gently rub in the butter until it looks like breadcrumbs. Slowly add the water a little at a time until you have a firm dough.

      3. Flour your work surface and kneed out the dough. With your pastry cutter, cut out rounds and place in a greased bun tin.
      4. Keep collecting the offcuts of dough and rolling out as necessary.

      5. Once you have all the pastry in the tin, spoon out your jam (you can use a selection of flavours or perhaps some lemon curd) into the pastry. You'll need around a tsp per case.

      6. Bake your tarts for around 12 minutes, keep an eye on them to ensure they don't burn.

      7. Delicious and so easy to make.
