Pancake Day Recipes

Pancake day is a firm favourite celebration, not only for its religious connotations but for the food it lends itself to! Pancake day is celebrated on Shrove Tuesday, just before the start of the Christian season of Lent. Shrove Tuesday became known as Pancake Day and associated with pancakes because making such foods used up ingredients such as fat and eggs, whose consumption were traditionally restricted during Lent.

Now the day is a great excuse to make both savoury and sweet Pancake Day recipes and get the whole family involved. You can have competitions to see who can flip the best pancake, have pancake races and feast on nothing but pancakes all day! Traditionally British pancakes are thinner than an American pancake but thicker than a crepe, but why not try out some different style pancakes this year, and not only play around with the batter recipe, try out some different toppings too.
