What are you doing for Valentine's Day?
Question: It’s not really my thing and I hate all the hype, however, I feel like I should make an effort (as I was cooked for last year) so I’m cooking a meal for my wonderful partner Mark. I am still deliberating over the menu but think it will be a fish (king prawn) starter, followed by Steak and a nice bottle of red wine. Not sure about dessert yet……. any ideas! What ever you are planning to do – saying it with flowers, chocolates, romantic weekend away or a nice home cooked meal here are a few top hints and tips that I will be following to make my evening special and go off with a bang! • Avoid abandoning your Valentine too long so choose dishes you feel confident about making. Prepare as much as possible in advance and focus on enjoying dinner — after all you don’t want to spend all night on the kitchen! • Set the scene for romance. Use your best tableware, bowls of floating candles, fresh flowers and background music. • Buy a bottle of Champagne and nice quality wine. • Keep portions small and enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace to avoid feeling overstuffed on rich foods. • If you both love to cook, plan and prepare the meal together. Or if you both love to cook, then just alternate the years (like us!). • Little touches make all the difference – don’t forget to warm the plates in the oven, add elegant garnishes or just selecting the right champagne/wine glasses to set the mood. • Don’t do the washing up – leave it until the morning…

Fish cakes with chili sauce or King Prawns. On the romantic film front you can't get better than 'Truly Madly Deeply' or 'Pretty Woman'..Enjoy!
