Turkish Recipes

Turkish cuisine has long been embedded in our society, from the kebabs we eat as fast food to the high end restaurants serving a range of traditional Turkish restaurants.

But there is more to Turkish food than the kebab alone; meze, delicious flatbreads, baklava and Turkish delight are just some of the delicacies that come from authentic Turkish recipes.

Meze are smaller meals and dips that together can make up a main meal or starter and are served with Turkish flatbread. Hoummus and Turkish eggplant recipes are popular examples of this and the flatbreads are traditionally made on a hot plate or baked in a clay oven.

Lamb and chicken are frequently seen in Turkish meat recipes and alongside kebabs are seen in tasty stews and tagines, flavoured with spices. Shish kebabs are commonly eaten with rice and bread and are grilled on a skewer with various vegetables and spices. These are finished off with typical Turkish desserts such as Turkish delight and delicious baklava; a small flaky pastry made of filo, honey, pistachios and almonds.
