Method

  • Put chicken pieces and vegies into a big casserole dish.
  • In a 500ml measuring jug, mix hot water and Bisto, add garlic, herbs, tomato paste, herbs, salt, pepper, chili.
  • Make up to 300ml with white wine. Give it a bloody good stir and pour over meat&veg.
  • Add cornflour mix and more hot water so meat&veg are almost covered with liquid.
  • 180 degrees celsius for 1-1.5 hours.
  • Tips

    • The quantities are not specific, make it however you want, more/less garlic, more/less wine, more/less chili, more/less tomato, whatever!

    • 7/8 Chicken pieces (drums and thighs)
    • 4 mushrooms. chopped
    • 1 onion chopped
    • 1-2 carrot. chopped
    • 2 T Bisto Gravy Granules
    • 50ml hot water
    • 3 T tomato paste
    • 3 garlic cloves. finely chopped
    • 200ml white wine
    • shake mixed herbs
    •  salt. pepper. chili flakes
    • 1 T cornflour. dissolved in a little hot water

    Mum always made this when we were growing up. Now I make it too. We really don't measure any of these ingredients so don't take it as gospel, works well with any mix of quantities!
