Fried Dumplings / Bakes

Method

  • Sift the flour, sugar and salt into a large bowl.
  • Add the milk and mix gently.

  • Knead the mix gently to make a smooth dough.

  • Divide the dough into ten balls.
  • Flour hands and knead each ball gently then press palm of hand onto the balls to slightly flatten.

  • Heat oil in a frying pan on a medium heat then reduce heat to low.
  • Place four dumplings at a time into the pan.
  • Fry dumplings on both sides (turn only once) for approx 15 mins. The dumplings are cooked once they are golden brown.

  • Stand the dumplings on their sides in the oil before removing them to brown the edges.

  • Remove from oil and place on kitchen paper to remove excess oil then serve whilst warm.
  • Ingredients

    • 4 cups self raising flour
    • 2 teaspoons Sugar
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cups milk
    •  oil for frying
