Indonesian Nasi Goreng

This is traditional recipe my mother used to make for me in the morning before setting off for school across the rice paddies in my home town of Sumedang.

1 - Blend the spice paste ingredients into a smooth paste

2 - Add 1 tbsp of vegetable oil to a wok and gently cook the spice paste

2 - Add the diced meat and cook through.

3 - Add the cooked rice (pre cooled) and continue to cook for a further 2 minutes stirring all the time

4 - Add the mixed vegetables and cook for a further 2 minutes

5 - Season to taste, garnish and serve

Hints 'n' Tips

why not add shredded omelette instead of a fried egg. You can leave out the meat and shrimp paste for a great vegetarian alternative.
