Sausages Braised with Guinness & Onions

Takes a lot to beat a banger! This is a delicious twist on the traditional sausage and mash - yummy!!!

Method

1. Heat the oven to 180oC gas 4.
2. Brown the sausages with a little olive oil in an ovenproof dish. Throw in the onions, cook until soft then add the bacon and garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
3. Stir in the flour, pour in the Guinness and let it bubble then add the thyme. Cover and bake for 40 minutes.

Ingredients

Plain Flour 2 Tsp
Garlic. Crushed 1 Clove
Streaky Bacon. Chopped 4-6 Rashers
Onions. Sliced 2
Olive Oil
Fat Large Pork Sausages 8
Guinness 330ml Can
Thyme 2 Sprigs

Hints 'n' Tips

Serve with loads of creamy mash and peas. Oven roasted root veg is good with this too. Just make sure you use the best quality sausages you can afford, it does make a difference.
