Get a large deep sided casserole pot with a lid. Chop onion and veg and throw it in the pan. Trim the beef and cut into medium size pieces if necessary and add to the pan (it is NOT necessary to fry to first). Add the casserole mix, red wine and stock and stir. Now add the garlic and Worcestershire sauce, put the lid on at put in the oven at 180 degrees C.
Every now and again stir the casserole. After 3 hours add the gravy granules and stir pop the lid back on and put it back into the oven for a further two hours. The sauce should now thicken nicely and give you a lovely rich flavour
At the end you should have a rich tasty sauce and the meat should just fall apart.
The 5 hours cooking time is just a guideline, i've done it in 4 hours before and sometimes if we haven't eaten until later I have just left it sitting in the oven at about 130 deg for another 2 hours.
The measurements of the ingredients are a guide line, just throw it all in and adjust according to taste!
Great served with Puff pastry instead of potatoes!!!
ENJOY!
