Ingredients
- 450g rump or sirloin steak
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1tsp finely chopped Coriander
- 2 tbsps soy sauce
- 2 tsps caster sugar
- 1 tbsp cornflour
- 150g basmati rice
- 300ml cold water
- 2 tbsps soy sauce
- 1.5 tsps sugar
- squeeze of lime
- dash of sesame oil
- 2 tbsps sunflower oil
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 carrots sliced with a vegetable peeler
- 2 spring onions chopped lengthways

1. Cut the beef diagonally across the pattern then slice into bite size bits.
2. Put the pieces into a bowl with the marinade ingredients. Marinade for 30 mins- overnight.
3. Wash the rice in a sieve under the tap. Add it to a pan with the water in and bring it to the boil. Then cover it and simmer it on a low heat for 1o mins or until the water is absorbed. Remove it from the heat then let it stand.
4. Meanwhile mix the sauce ingredients together.
5. Heat a deep frying pan (or a wok, if you have one). Add the sunflower and sesame oil. Then put half the beef in and stir fry for 1-2 mins until just browned. Remove it and keep it warm while you repeat with the other half of the beef. Remove the rest of the beef.
6. Stir fry the spring onions and carrots for 1 min. Put the the beef back in to reheat and add the sauce. Stir well.
7. Drain the rice and put the rice and stir fry into bowls.
Chef's Tips
You could add some more veggies to the recipe if you like. You can eat with chopsticks!
