Description
I made this with some free windfall cookers and some berries I found in the bottom of the freezer, it was ideal as a pudding after Sunday roast

Peel, core and cube the apples. Put them into a saucepan with a splash of cold water, add the sugar, cover and cook over a high heat, stirring occasionally for five minutes. When softened but still piping hot, tip in the frozen mixed berries and stir together. Leave to stand for a while as the hot apples thaw out the frigid berries. (it can be left covered, overnight if you wish, at this stage.)
Mix the flour, oats, sugar and nuts together, then rub in the diced butter, until you have a breadcrumby style mixture.
Put the fruit base into an oven proof serving dish and sprinkle the crumble topping over.
Bake at 200c/ gas 6 for about 30 minutes until the top is golden.
Enjoy with custard or icecream or both.
