Method

    1. Try mixing 4 peeled, cored and chopped bramley apple with a 1 tbsp.of cornflour, the zest of a lemon and 45g fairtrade granulated white sugar.

    2. Place in a 1 litre ovenproof dish and brush the edges of the dish with a little beaten egg.

    3. Roll out 250g shortcrust pastry to a thickness of 1/2 cm, then place over the apple mixture and pinch to secure it to the dish edges.

    4. Brush the top with beaten egg, sprinkle with sugar and make a hole in the top.

    5. Bake for 40 minutes at 180C,fan 160C, gas 4 for the perfect, traditional apple pie.

This is a great recipe.but I like to line the plate with pastry too.
