Place the diced onion, carrots and ham into a pan with the cupful of split peas.
Cover with water and bring to the boil and allow to simmer for about 45 mins.
Add the lentils to thicken it up and simmer for a further 30 mins.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Chef's Tips
Serve with a nice freshly cooked Vienna Sausage
