Muscat Beaumes de Venise Sweet Wine

Beaumes is famed for its wine made from the Muscat grape. Rich, sweet and luscious with a touch of white flower on the finish. A delicious and subtle dessert wine. Buy this wine if you like: Sweet dessert wines that are lighter in style.

Method

  1. 1

Have ready a 23cm tart tin or ovenproof plate about 3cm deep (slightly smaller or larger is fine). Preheat the oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface to the thickness of a ยฃ1 coin.

Lightly butter the tin, line it with the pastry and trim the edges. Spoon the golden syrup into a pan and gently warm through until runny, then tip in the breadcrumbs, orange juice and zest and stir until combined.

Spoon this into the lined tin, level, and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is lightly golden and cooked through. Serve the tart with double cream or custard.

Chef's Tips

To make breadcrumbs, tear up fresh white bread into a processor and blitz to crumbs. Spread these out on a baking sheet and let them dry a little, then return to the processor and whiz again to achieve a finer crumb.
