- 3tbsp plain flour
- salt and black pepper
- 1 kg lean stewing steak, cut into cubes
- 3tbsp oil
- 2 large onions,thinly sliced
- 2 red or green peppers,thinly sliced
- 1 garlic clove,crushed
- 300ml beef stock
- 400g can of chopped tomatoes
- 3tbsp tomato puree
- 1tbsp paprika
- Β½ tsp nutmeg
- 4 tbsp soured cream or plain yoghurt
- chopped fresh parsley to garnish

Description
This is a rich beef stew to be cooked in a slow cooker. Good served with rice.

Season the flour with salt and pepper.Then toss in the meat shaking off any excess. Heat the oil in a large saucepan. and brown the meat lightly on all sides.Transfer to the slow cooker. Add the onions,peppers and garlic to the pan and cook for about 8 minutes stirring occasionally,without browning. Stir in the stock,tomatoes,tomato puree,paprika and nutmeg and bring to the boil. Transfer to the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 7-10 hours. Just before serving,adjust the seasoning,stir in the cream or yoghurt and sprinkle with parsley.
