Description
A croque-monsieur is a hot ham and cheese (typically emmental or gruyere) grilled sandwich. As delicious as can be for the small yearning.
Serve it with fries and/or salad

1. Set half of the slices of bread buttered side down, and cover them with the cheese slices, folding them back in toward the middle if they extend past the edges of the bread.
2. Place 1 slice of the ham in an even layer over the cheese, and place the top slice of bread over the ham, buttered side up.
3. Grill the sandwiches in a grill using and turning once. Place on serving plates.
TO MAKE A CROQUE MADAME (croque monsieur with a fried egg on the top)
4. Prepare 4 fried eggs: Place a small non-stick frying pan over the lowest possible heat. Add the butter and let slowly melt.
When all the butter has melted, crack the egg and cook them approximately 5 minutes until the eggs whites solidify from transparency into white.
5. Put the fried eggs onto the sandwiches.
