- 6oz chopped dates
- 4oz chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
- 3oz sunflower marge
- 1 tsp Vanilla essence
- 4 oz brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 4oz wholemeal flour
- To decorate Walnut halves

Fruit loaf, but with nuts!!

Lightly oil 2lb tin
Place dates in bowl with 8 fl oz of boiling water. When cooled, drain and reserve liquid, then stir in soda.
Mix in everything but the walnut HALVES.
Spoon into tins and use walnuts halves to decorate.
Bake at 180 degrees for 1 hr.
