Origin Pinot Grigio Organic

The nation's favourite tipple in an organic bundle. A great value wine,Β from Italy's ever popular Pinot Grigio grape. This wine is perfectly balanced with juicy pear and peach notes and soft floral aromas

Description

A filling, easy, wholeseome and yet very affordable cottage pie with added beans and lentils.

Method

  1. 1

    1) Finely chop a good sized onion.

    2) Put a big pan on a medium heat. Add onions and meat to brown. Let them sizzle merrily for 5 minutes or so.

    3) Wash and boil the green lentils in another pan as per instructions.

    4) Add the tinned tomatoes to the meat and onions and stir in.

    5) In boiling water, dissolve stock cubes at the two pints to the big pan and stir in. Season and add worcester sauce. Add an Oxo cube if you think it needs more flavouring.

    6) Simmer gently for about half an hour.

    7) Stir in tin of beans and cooked lentils and let simmer again for another 10 mins or so.

    7) Boil and mash the potatoes. Adding a little milk and butter to taste.

    8) Put the meat and beans in a big ceramic dish and fork the spuds on top. Sprinkle a little cheese on top if you like.

    9) Pop in the oven for 20 mins or so. And serve. Tasty with green veg such as broccoli or green cabbage.

Chef's Tips

Meat is expensive so this recipe is a way of making a little meat go further. The secret is a flavoursome sauce that makes the lentils and beans as delicious as the meat itself. I think you can knock this recipe up for about a fiver.
