1. Preheat the oven to 170C. Line two baking trays with sheets of baking paper.
2. Beat the margarine, sugar and vanilla essence.
3. Sift the flours into the margarine mixture. Use a wooden spoon to mix until well combined. Use your hands to mix to a soft dough.
4. Shape tablespoonsful of the mixture into balls and place on the prepared trays. Use a fork to flatten the balls.
5. Bake for 15 minutes.
