I dedicate this recipe to my grandma jean who showed it me as a little girl she has now
past away but it reminds the family of her passion to cook and love of brandy !

Get a small bowl and place the sultners,brandy,sugar and mix well.place in the fringe whilst you start on the cake.
get a medium pan and place over low simmering heat .put the butter and sugar in mix well.leave it to simmer for around four mins it should be a rich dark brown.take of heat and leave to cool for 5 mins .gradually add the flour and egg .fold this in.when this is all nicely folded in get the sultaners out of the fringe and drain saving half the brandy syrup.stri in the drained sultaners and add the brandy syrup (vanilla essence optional).keep folding for 2 mins.grease a cake tin or bun tray .pour in the mixture and place in oven medium to high for 40mins until golden brown.if stored in a cool dry cupboard it can last up 6-8 days .Hope you enjoy this comforting cake !!the picture has been made with double the amountant of sultaners.
Chef's Tips
if the mixture looks abit liquid deepening on how much brandy you put in add an extra tablespoon of flour.
