Ingredients
- 400g tinned haricot beans / pinto beans or similar
- 500 g smoked bacon. cut into thin strips
- 1 onion. finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic- peeled and finely chopped
- 3 tbsp molasses sugar
- pinch salt and pepper
- 2 tbsp yellow / dijon mustard
- 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp Tomato Puree (Paste)

Description
A great recipe to accompany a BBQ or southern style dish such as BBQ chicken, ribs, pulled pork etc. Great as a tasty alternative to ordinary baked beans.

1. Heat some oil in a large sauce pan and fry the onions and bacon for a few minutes until softened. Add the garlic and fry for a few more minutes.
2. Add in the rest of the ingrediants and bring to the boil. Simmer for few minutes and top up with about a cup of water.
3. Cover and simmer on a low heat for approx 35 minutes, checking that extra water is not needed a few times.
4. When consistency and thick and dark, serve.
