Preheat an oven to 180 degrees, melt the butter and grease 4 holes in a muffin tray. Cut the bread into large circles, brush over on one side with melted butter and place buttered side down into the muffin tray holes. Crack and egg into the bread, sprinkle with salt and pepper and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
