Description
Best pastry for making mince pies or with any other sweet filling. This was a recipe I learned in Home Economics lessons at school in the 60s, never fails to impress.

Dissolve the sugar in the water in a small bowl and mix in the egg yolk. Sift the flour into a mixing bowl, cut the butter into small cubes and quickly rub into the flour. Add the water mixture and blend in using a round bladed knife until the mixture clings together. Form into a ball using your hands. Turn onto a lightly floured board and roll out and use for any sweet pie or tart recipe you would normally use. Bake in a preheated oven at Gas 6/400F/200C(180Fan)for time specified in your recipe.
