- pinch bicarbonate of soda
- 3tblsp cocoa powder. sieved
- 300g caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1tsp Vanilla essence
- 250g butter. melted
- 175ml real coca cola
- 250ml milk
- 200g icing sugar
- 100g Butter
- 2tblsp coca cola
- 2tblsp cocoa powder

This is a classic chocolate cake recipe - not too sweet and absolutely delicious

Grease the cake tin with the oil.
Sift the flour in a bowl. Mix in the bicarb of soda, cocoa powder and sugar. Stir in the eggs and vanilla essence.
Put the butter in a pan and melt gently. Add the coca cola to the butter and stir to mix, making sure the mixture does not boil. Stir in the milk and remove from heat.
Quickly whisk the cola mixture into the dry ingredients. Mix gently but thoroughly. Pour the mixture into the tin and put into the oven for 40 mins.
Leave to cool for 15 mins.
For the frosting, sift the icing sugar into a bowl. Put butter in a pan and melt over a gently heat. Stir in the cola and cocoa powder. Bring the mixture to the boil, then pour it over the icing sugar. Beat until smooth.
With the cake still in the tin, pour over the frosting and leave until completely cool.
Serve warm with cream.
tried this cake - mixture was very runny. Also no instructions about oven temperature. Cooked for 40mins @ 180 centigrade - no where near cooked!
