i have made this for years and my kids love it!

boil a big pot of water with the stock cubes
soak the split peas in hot water
chop the onions,carrots,leeks and potatoes into really small pieces
add everything into the pot with the salt an pepper to taste and boil for an hour an 15 mins stirring occasionally
i usually half blend it so that it is still got bits but is nice and thick too :)
