- Β½ lb stale bread without crust
- 3 oz shredded or chopped suet
- 2 oz demerara sugar
- 4 oz dried fruit
- 1 or 2 eggs
- Β½ tsp. mixed spice
- some milk

My mother-in-law, Joan, made it in winter on a very cold night...yummy!!

Cut the bread into small pieces, put into a basin and cover with milk. Leave to soak, then squeeze till dry and beat with a fork. Mix with the suet, sugar, fruit and mixed spice. Stir in the eggs.
Press the mixture into a greased sandwich tin and bake for about 35 min. at 400ΒΊF.
