Spicy Cottage Pie

This is quite a versatile recipe. I concocted it with what I had handy.

   Mash potatoes adding butter and milk for a stiff mixture.
   
   Saute onions and garlic.
   Add minced beef and brown.
   Add spices, stock, carrots and baked beans (you may want to discard some of the sauce).
   Simmer until the mixture is not too runny.
   Add Bisto (and sour cream if desired) and simmer for a minute.
   
   Pour the mix into an ovenproof dish and spread the mashed potato on top, tucking in at the sides to prevent the filling bubbling up. Add the grated cheese.
   Bake for about 30 minutes or until the top is browned and slightly crisp.
