Description
Loads of fun for kids/for you to do for your kids.
I made bear truffles for my friends and didn't know what to do with the rest of the mixture. Then this idea just came to me...
Method

1. Break up the chocolate (preferably Dr. Oetker - it may be more expensive, but it's definitely worth it) and melt it in a pan.
If you want more creamy, less gooey truffles then melt the butter in the same pan too.
2. Once melted, pour the chocolate into a mixing bowl and fold in the double/whipping cream.
3. Leave to cool in a dry place (not in the fridge) for 2 hours +
4. After it's set, take a teaspoon full of mixture and roll into a ball in the palm of your hand. (I know it's gooey!)
5. Place your truffles on a flat surface e.g. chopping board/plate/baking tray (if you want lay down tracing paper)
6. Slice a glace cherry in half and then half again to make a set of wings. Place these at an angle on the truffle.
7. With the chocolate piping icing, squeeze symetrical spots on the wings.
8. Chop a mini marshmallow in half or thirds to create a flat face for the ladybird.
9. Using writing icing, stick on the mini chocolate balls for the eyes and use the black writing icing for the line down its back and a smile. - This bit canbe a little fiddly.
10. In the centre of the plate in my picture is a flower, - this is just a truffle dusted in cocoa powder with 4 little triangles of green ready-to-roll icing and a flower wafer placed on top.
11. Decorate the edges of the plate and under the flower with mint leaves.
If you want to have a less childish face on your ladybird then you can remove the marshmallow and use 2 thin chocolate sticks or a bit off a chocolate flake and melt either end. Stick one end into the truffle and the other end to a mini chocolate ball, to create realistic antennas.
Enjoy! ☺,, ☻,, ☺,, ☻,,
These are a great idea. So cute!
