Description
I love making these easy fresh burgers with the kids for a BBQ. It helps to show them that processed food, frozen burgers etc. is completely unnecessary, and these are so tasty!
Method
-
1
Mix your beaten egg with your minced meat. Add pepper to taste. Don't add salt - it will tighten the texture of the meat and make your burgers dry. You can always add a pinch of sea salt after cooking!
Mix everything thoroughly, then form into small balls (size of a pool ball is about right).
Flatten the balls of mixture into patties, no more than 2cm thick, so that they cook evenly.
Fry, grill, or for best results BBQ for 10-15 minutes, ensuring that your burgers are cooked through (not pink in the middle). Kids love making these because they are so good and so easy.
Serve with a bun, some mustard, ketchup, mayo or relish. Enjoy!
Chef's Tips
If you like you can leave out the egg, but it does help to bind the mixture together during cooking.
You can add whatever extra ingredients you like: chopped onion, spices, soy sauce, garlic, maybe even some grated cheese.
These were absolutely lovely and the kids LOVE them! Really encourages THEM to get involved in the kitchen for something other than CAKES! LOL
there's only one way to find out!!!! FIGHT!!!! :) (or cook-off)
