- olive oil
- 400g lean braising steak. cut into chunks
- 2 onions. cut into thin wedges
- 300g button mushrooms
- 1 garlic clove. crushed
- thyme leaves. from a sprig
- 1.5 tbsp Flour
- 0.5 bottle Red wine
- 200g Shortcrust pastry
- 1 egg. beaten

Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon Rose
This beautiful rose wine is made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, fruit driven, refreshing with abundance of berry flavours and a pleasant long finish.

Heat the oven to 170C/fan 150C/gas 3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non-stick casserole dish. Brown the beef in batches. Remove, then add onions and cook until just browned. Remove, repeat with mushrooms.
Add beef and onions back to the pan with garlic and thyme, cook for a minute, sprinkle with flour and stir. Gradually add wine, stirring, and simmer. Season, cover, then put in the oven for 2 hours.
Take out. Turn up oven to 190C/fan 170C/gas 5. Divide feed between 4 small pie dishes. Roll out the pastry thinly, cut into strips and make a lattice across the top. Brush with the egg. Cook for 30 minutes until the pastry is crisp and golden.
