The famous and multi-award winning Nederburg estate has been handcrafting wines for over two centuries.A full bodied wine with ripe fruit.

Description

A great evening meal for those cold winter evenings.

Method

  1. 1

    1. Heat the oven to Gas mark 6 (200 Degrees)

    2. Cut the sausages into quarters and roll them in to sausage balls. Then place them in an oven proof dish along with 1 finely chopped onion, 2 cloves of garlic and season them with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Put them in the heated oven for 20 minutes until cooked - then drain any excess fat from the dish.

    3. Once the sausages are cooking in the oven, put the sliced potatoes and 1 finely chopped onion on the hob and bring them up to the boil - Once boiled leave them to stand in the water.

    4. Also with the the leeks and carrots, pop them on to boil and once boiled, drain the them and place them on top of the sausages along with the crushed stock cube then carefully pour 2-3 ladel's of onion water from the potatoes. (or enough to cover the vegetables)

    5. Then place the sliced potatoes on top of the vegetables and sprinkle the grated cheese on top of the potatoes and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the cheese has crisped.

    6. Once the dish is out of the oven leave to stand for 5 minutes and serve.

Brill recipe but we've renamed it "sausage suprise" in our house as my OH doesn't usually like sausage dishes and was soooo suprised he wolfed the lot!! I used good quality butchers sausages, homegrown leeks (which I sweated off with mushrooms), homegrown garlic and fantastic Devon Marfona potatoes. YUMMY! Thanks Becky Lou x
