Description
A recipe from my grandma that she gave me twice before she died just to make sure I had it! A bonfire night treat for the family.

1) Sift together flour, ginger, bicarbonate of soda and salt.
2) Place hot water, butter, sugar and syrup in a bowl and beat with and electric mixer for a few moments until combined, stir in to the centre of the dry ingredients.
3) Add one egg and beat well until smooth.
4) Pour in to a shallow tin (I usually use a roasting tin!) and bake at 170 degrees celcius for 45 minutes.
Chef's Tips
