Put tea, sultanas, raisins and sugar into a bowl and leave to stand overnight. Next day, grease and line 2lb loaf tins with greased, greaseproof paper. Add the beaten egg to fruit and tea mixture and lightly fold in the sifted flour and mixed spice. Turn mixture into prepared tins.
Cook at 325 degrees Mark 3 for 1 1/2hrs and then 275 degrees Mark 1 for a further 1 1/2hrs.
