Cranberry Sauce

A basic holiday staple that's really easy to make from scratch.


Place the cranberries, sugar and water in a pan and bring to a boil over a medium heat. Let simmer for 10 to 15 minutes stirring from time to time so the sauce does not boil over until cranberries are cooked. Pour into clean, sterilised jars. Cool and store in the fridge.


Sugar 150 g
Cranberries 300 g
Water 250 ml

This is a bit basic and overly sweet. Substituting the water for orange juice or a mixture of port, or cherry brandy, and orange juice and adding a hint of Christmas spice makes this much nicer.
