This was in the Sunday Times before Christmas and is a great fun recipe for kids and can be used to make Christmas tree decorations

Cream the butter sugar together then add the egg and vanilla. Fold in the flour, salt, baking powder..
Preheat the oven to 180oC. With each colour of boiled sweet, crush them into little pieces either with a rolling pin or in a pestle and mortar.
Roll out the dough as thin as possible, cut into 'church window shapes' (rectangular but with the topside a pointy triangle) Use festive cookie cutters or freestyle shapes to cut out of the middle of the biscuit, where the melted sweats will form the glass.
If you want to use them as tree decorations, make a hole in the pointy end for string or ribbon to go through.
Place on a non-stick, greased baking tray or sheet and bake for 8 minutes, leave to cool then remove with a palette knife.
