Ingredients
- 250g Clover Butter
- 300g Muscovado sugar
- 8 tbsp. Golden Syrup
- 600g Plain Flour
- 2 tsp. Bicarbonate of soda
- 4 tsp. Ground Ginger
- 300g Icing Sugar
- 2 sachet Dried Egg White
- Food colouring

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 170 C/160 C fan /Gas Mark 4. Grease and flour a baking sheet.
2. Melt the butter, sugar and syrup. Sift together the flour, bicarbonate of soda and ground ginger. Mix the melted butter mixture into the flour until the dough comes together.
3. Roll out the dough to 5mm thick. Cut out your preferred shapes, using a floured cutter, and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
4. Bake for 12 minutes. Have ready a skewer. As soon as the biscuits are out of the oven and they are still soft, use the skewer to make a hole for the ribbon to go through. Cool on a rack.
5. Sift the icing sugar and mix in the egg white. Add 1 teaspoon of water and mix until te icing is quite thick. Add a little more water if needed. Colour with paste until the colour is as you like it.
6. Spoon into piping bag. Decorate biscuits to your design.
