Devonshire Apple Scones

These were made when I had first picked the apples as a child.
Unlike normal scones these resemble rock buns and have a lovely apple flavour,serve split and buttered as usual

   Set oven to 190c, 357f, gas mk 5.

   Flour baking sheets.

   Sieve flour, cinnamon and baking powder together into a bowl.

   Rub in butter until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.

   Stir in the sugar and apple.

   Lastly, stir in the egg.

   Form the mixture into 10 or 12 rough heaps on the baking sheet.

   Bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned.

   Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.

    Serve with butter. Just delicious.
