Description

This recipe is my combination of recipes that has evolved as a result of my eldest daughters total love of apple crumble.

Method

  1. 1

Heat oven to 200 (conventional) or 180 (Fan) Degrees C. Prepare an oven proof dish by greasing with a little butter.

Next, peel, core and roughly slice the apples. Place this into the base of the oven proof dish and sprinkle with the allspice and cinnamon powders and water.

To make the topping place the flour and butter into a mixing bowl. Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips. Carry on rubbing until the consistency is like very fine breadcrumbs. Mix in the sugar using a wooden spoon.

Spread the topping mixture over the apples gently, filling in all the gaps. Finally sprinkle the topping with the nut / seed mixture you have chosen, then bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes.

Chef's Tips

Other yummy fruits can be used in combination with the apple or as a substitute. Good ones are: Blackberry, apricots, rhubarb

Lots of nut and seed combinations can be used to make your crumble super healthy - great for getting the kids to eat nuts and seeds with out realising it!
