Method

    1. Preheat oven to 220Β°C.

    2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt together in a bowl.

    3. Cut the shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs and then stir in the milk just until mixture forms a soft dough.

    4. On lightly floured surface knead the dough and then roll the dough until 3/4 inch thick.

    5. With floured round cookie cutter (3 1/2"), cut out as many biscuits as possible.

    6. Place biscuits, about 1/2 inch apart, on oiled baking tray.

    7. Brush biscuits with beaten egg. Bake for about 15 minutes until golden.
