Ingredients
- 3 ounces block Margarine
- Teaspoon Cinnamon
- Teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ยฝ cup Currants ( optional )
- 1 Egg
- 225 ml Buttermilk
- 12oz Self-raising Soda bread Flour
- 3 Desert spoons Black Treacle

Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon Rose
This beautiful rose wine is made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, fruit driven, refreshing with abundance of berry flavours and a pleasant long finish.
Method

Melt 3 ounces of block Margarine.
Leave to cool
Add Cinnamon , ground nutmeg in a bowl.
Add 3 Desert spoons of Black Treacle.
Half cup of Currants
1 Egg
225 ml Buttermilk
Add Melted Margarine
Mix well
Sieve Flour and add by folding into mixture 1/3 at a time until all flour has been mixed in.
Put into 1 or 2 baking tins and bake in an oven Gas 3 ยฝ for approx 50mins.
Remove and place on a wire rack to cool.
Chef's Tips
You Can Add more spices for your own taste.
This is a light bread mix almost cakelike.
Made this into scones
Delicious!!! Really light and tasty.
Just found this recipe this afternoon and decided to try it as I had loads of sodabread flour and buttermilk. Instead
of making it into a loaf shape I made "tea scones" from the mixture and cooked @ 200c(fan oven) for approx 10-12 minutes. Cool between a clean tea towel on cooling rack.
