My 7year old son came up with this idea, and was desperate to do some more cooking!
We adapted a favourite banana muffin recipe, adding Maltesers to the middle and the top for extra yumminess!
1. Preheat the oven to 200⁰,C.
2. Put 12 paper muffin cases into the muffin tray.
3. Sift the flour, baking powder, soda bicarbonate and salt together.
4. Add the milk, oil, sugar, popping candy and beaten egg and stir well - note that the popping candy will start to crackle now - so be quick! Make sure no flour is visible.
5. Lightly stir in the 24 Malteser halves so that they are evenly spread through mixture.
5. Spoon into the muffin cases equally.
6. Cook for 15minutes. At this time you can remove from oven and put a further two or three halves (depending on how many you've nibbled during the making! :-)) on the top of each muffin.
7. Return to oven for another 5 minutes, or long enough for the tops to start to go golden brown (especially if you like soft muffins!).
to die for!
